What you're trying to say is "What is HD for? I don't get the point!" Well, full HD is pretty much 1080 lines of color on the screen. You have that much so it will make a more high resolution and more realistic picture. Well I guess people wanted more realistic pictures on their favourite action movies for more suspense

You don't technically need an HDTV to use an HDDVR, but you won't actually be able to see the shows in HD if you don't have an HD TV. It seems pointless to pay extra for the HD feature when you can't even use it.
HDMI cables have not ports in a non hd tv so no you should not use them
No
Yes, it will but to get the full HD quality you will need to use a HDMI cable.
This depends on if you want to watch HD tv. OfCourse an HD plasma tv will be better than a regular plasma if your looking toward watching television in HD.
no, you can use a hd tv
This depends on the cable box. Most HD cable receivers have not only an HDMI output for use with HD televisions but also feature analog connections that can be used with non HD televisions. The analog outputs will only deliver SD quality so the benefits of an HD receiver won't be seen, but the receiver most certainly can be used and will display HD quality whenever an HD television is connected to it.
yes
If you have and HD tv it will have that for hd. however you can't use hd unless you have a hd cable box. HD stands for High Definition
Yes, in order to get a better picture. You can use it on a TV that is not HD but the picture would not be as good.
