The Twin Towers were part of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. On September 11th, 2001, two planes flew into the towers in an act of terrorism. We honor the twin towers because 3000 people died on that day. That includes those in the towers, those in the Pentagon, and those who died in the Pennsylvania crash who saved many lives at the cost of their own by taking back the plan which the terrorists had hijacked.
