The fact of the matter is that you do not need equipment to ride a horse.
However, using equipment is safer and more secure (especially for guys).
I say especially for guys, because I have ridden bare back (without a saddle) once and my privates were absolutely pummeled.
The reins are for steering the horse, but you can use your heels by applying pressure to the opposite side of the horse depending on the direction you wish to go in.
The stirrups are for placing your feet in. This takes pressure off of your quad muscles and your pelvis.
The saddle (as I have already mentioned) provides a cushion for your arse and your privates. The girth keeps the saddle on, and therefore, keeps you on the horse. The grass reins stop the horse from jerking their head forwards and stops you from somersaulting over the front of its head (I have had this done to me before).
Not necessarily, no. All you need to ride is the horse.
Technically to ride a horse, you dont need any equipment, if you understand your horse, and have a good bond. But most people use a saddle, the piece of equipment you sit on, either English style, Western, or Australian; and a bridle, which controls the horse's head.
you need to have balance to ride a horse and grip.

a saddle
You need all the nerves in your body to be able to ride a horse and ride it well.
It depends on if you're talking about the tack for the horse or equipment for the rider. For the horse you need a bridle at least. If you like to ride bareback you won't even need a saddle. If you do ride with a saddle you will of course need one and a quality saddle pad. This protects the horse's back from the saddle. Don't skimp on the pad. You want your horse to be as comfortable as he can be.For the rider you need good, safe footwear with the regulation heel so as not to get a foot through the stirrup and possibly drug by a runaway horse. And you need head protection. The better, safer helments will cost a little more but will be worth the extra money if you fall.
For that you would probably need to ride a 13hh pony to 15hh horse.
they need 2 be 3 before u can ride them.
This depends on what type of riding you do and how often. You'll need a set of tack which should include a saddle and it's fittings (Leathers, Irons, Girth.) A saddle pad, a bridle with reins and a bit. Then you'll need somewhere to ride the horse. For the rider you'll need heeled riding boots, jeans or long pants, a certified helmet and possibly gloves to prevent blisters.
It depends where you ride. If you are having lessons at your house then yes you will probably need your own horse. But if you are going to a riding centre then usually you will not need a horse of your own.
They have saddles? If they do, you don't need one to ride your horse. You have to wait until it has two hearts before you can ride it (plus it has to be an adult). I never encountered a saddle. ,':|
