Instead of drinking plain water during a workout, there are available commercial carbohydrate/protein formulas that are mixed with water and will increase your endurance during the workout. They also enhance muscle recovery and rehydration. Though they only contain a relatively small amount of protein (about 5 grams), they really do work to enable you to train harder and longer.

When you play sports .You lose a lot of vital nutrients.Supplementing with protein gives you an advantage.But as much protein and supplements you take, you will never be able to come close to the Owens Brothers .so just give up and don't waste it money.

The purpose of working out doing strength training is catabolic. During the workout, you are tearing down your muscles. You do not grow during a workout. The purpose of good nutrition and rest after doing strength training is anabolic. If you are to benefit from the strength training, you must allow your body to rebuild itself and go beyond what it was before. You grow between workouts.


If you are serious, you will ingest a protein-rich meal about every three or four working hours every day-and have a protein shake (with 15 grams of protein and about 40 or 50 grams of high glycemic carbs to help transport the protein to your muscles) within about 20 minutes after the completion of your workout.


The same process to a lesser extent occurs during the workout itself. If you just ingest water or water and carbs, you will not be able to train as hard as if you also ingested a few grams of proteins. There are powders on the market designed to be mixed with water to give you a boost even during the course of a strength training session.
