Best Answer

Oxygen gets into the bloodstream by diffusing across the layer of cells on the surface of the lungs and into the body fluid and then becomes attached to hemoglobin.

The rate at which this happens depends on the concentration of oxygen in the lungs. As the diffusion process takes place across the surface of the lungs, there is less and less oxygen remaining in the air sac of the lung and so the process slows as time goes on.

To keep the rate of oxygenation at a high level, it is better to replenish the partially depleted air with fresh air by breathing.

Why dont animals use up all the oxygen in the atmosphere?

Animals do not use up all the oxygen in the atmosphere because plants produce oxygen. When they breathe, plants inhale carbon dioxide (which is what animals breathe out) and exhale oxygen (which is what animals breathe in).

What do plants use that consumers breathe out?

We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants take in this carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which we use after that.

Does a person needsto be kept on artificial respiration tamporaly or parmanently?

if u r talking about mouth-to-mouth respiration, you might be wondering, the person exhaling have used up all the oxygen in the air, so why does the inhaling person can still get oxygen? The answer is, actually we cannot use up all the oxygen in the air we breathe in. There is approx. 21% oxygen in the atmosphere (i.e. in the air we breathe in), but in the air we breathe out, depending on our activity level, will have 4-5% less oxygen. Therefore we actually still have around 16% of oxygen in the air we breathe out. Therefore the person helped with artificial respiration can use this oxygen
