There are small water heaters that run on 110 volts. However if yours is a large 240 volt heater and you only have 110 volts going to it, then it is fused and one on the fuses has blown in the service panel.

Are gas water heaters cheaper to use than electric water heaters?

Answergas heater is cheaper by far !!!!!!AnswerThis is entirely dependent on the cost of energy in your area.AnswerTalking from experience, we installed a Titan Tankless N180 electric water heater 8 months ago and it uses approx. 300kw of power with an approximate cost of $50 per month. We have 5 members in the family, and live in Southern California. My best estimate from a comparative analysis on the gas savings is we're only saving between $10 to $15 per month. Electric water heater seems to make sense for vacation homes or where gas is not available.

Why is an electric heater the only appliance that may have an efficiency of 1?

Because the heat from a heater is already in the lowest from of energy possible, physical heat at only a few degrees above the ambient temperature.

Electric water heater you have a electric water heater that for some reason keeps failing to heat water It has a new element thermostat and breaker what else could it be?

Try checking the heating element itself. Do this by removing it and using an ohm meter to check it for an "open" circuit condition. If the ohm meter reads infinite, then it is likely bad. If the water heater is only slow to heat, a very likely possibility is that you have an excess amount of sediment in the bottom of the tank, insulating the heating element from the water. Back flushing the tank will solve this problem. For more tips, check out the following web site: www.waterheaterrescue.com

Why has solar water heater not reduced electric bill?

First, your hot water heater may represent only a small fraction of your utility bill. You would have to meter the heater power consumption before and after adding solar assist. Also, the assist only happens when the sun is shining so it you use most hot water during non-daylight hours you wouldn't experience much savings.

How can you tell if you have a gas or electric water heater?

Read the label. A gas heater will have three plumbing pipes connected. One is a gas supply. An electric heater will only have two plumbing pipes but it will have an electical conduit or electrical wire feed line.

Are Bradford White Water Heaters capable of being run on an electrical system or are they only powered by natural gas?

No if your heater is electric you can not use a gas heater you have to use the electric heater and it would really cause too much to change over from electric to gas so I would truly stick to what heater you have noiw

Will your gas water heater work during a power outage?

The only power used by a gas water heater is the small current generated by the thermocouple that keeps the gas valve open. It comes on mechanically when the water temperature drops. You don't need house current.

Are there any water heaters that save energy?

not really, gas or somewhat ok, but electric are always better. but if your really looking to a save a buck or two, find your breaker box and turn the circuit off to your water heater, if it's electric. but remember that you have to turn it back on about an hour before you use hot water. electric water heaters are a constant use of electricity and if you ever look at your power meter and see the " wheel" or guage moving, then turn off every thing in your house and it will still move on account of the water heater. or you could just go to your buddy's house and use their water Installing a water heater timer may also help save energy and heating bill costs. Gas heater and electric heater timers are out there and I think they really do help save money. (up to 30% on energy costs monthly) Its really convenient and since its just me in the house the timer allows me to set it so only heats when Im home and need hot water.
