How to Build a Subwoofer Box?
Car subwoofers impact your music with an immense deep sound of bass. Subwoofers come in all sizes, the bigger they are the more bass your car will put out. Regardless of size, every subwoofer requires a subwoofer box. Follow these simple steps to build your own subwoofer box. ▪ Step 1: Check subwoofer box dimension requirements. Some subwoofers require specific types of boxes and specific dimensions leaving little room for miscalculation. Manufacturers or dealers will identify what box type and dimensions will be required for the subwoofer in question. It’s important to keep in mind that if these manufacturer recommendations are not followed, the subwoofer could be damaged or sound terrible. ▪ Step 2: Prepare building materials. A subwoofer box is most commonly built with 5/8” particle board medium fiberboard. Plexiglas can be used but it’s recommended to use at least ½”. Fiberglas can be molded for odd shaped boxes but it must be done in several layers. Glue all the joints and holes, allowing the glue to cure for at least 24 hours before bracing the subwoofers. Any openings will corrupt the performance of your subs. Using 2" to 2 ½” screws screw all joints, approximately every four inches. Pre-drill to avoid the wood splitting. ▪ Step 3: Port a subwoofer. Either using premade port or PVC tubing cut the tube to the desired length. The volume the tube takes should be considered when calculating the total box volume. Cut a hole in the subwoofer box, minimizing any gaps where the tube and box meet then seal any gaps with glue. ▪ Step 4: Brace the subwoofer box. Larger subwoofer boxes should be braced with wood to avoid flexing. Reinforcing corners with wood blocks will give added protection. Remember, adding extras such as lights inside the subwoofer box takes up more volume and should be adjusted accordingly when calculating internal volume. ▪ Step 5: Add insulation. Fiberglas or polyfill is usually used to partially fill the box; the amount should be individually discovered by judgment of sound quality. Insulation increase subwoofer effectiveness and sound. ▪ Step 6: Finish the box. Sand the box until a smooth surface is achieved and fill any holes with wood filler. Applying a primer under paint is recommended. If you prefer applying carpet, sanding or painting is not necessary. Apply an adhesive before placing the carpet over the box and secure with staples at the ends. Constructing a subwoofer box can be time consuming nevertheless, with proper construction a subwoofer box will increase subwoofer efficiency and sound. Considering volume density dimensions, porting, bracing and insulating the subwoofer box adds big bass sound for an invigorating surround sound car audio experience.

The best way to fix this problem is first you have to remove all the wires from the subwoofer. Than take the subwoofer out of the box and set the subwoofer in a trash can. On trash day wheel subwoofer to end of driveway. Problem solved!
