Because it makes it taste better.
If you actually try it with and without salt, you'll see what I mean. Keep in mind that there should never be enough salt to make it actually taste salty, but a small amount simply makes it taste better and brings out all the other flavors you might add.
This phenomenon of a small amount of salt improving the flavor of even sweet things that shouldn't taste salty is well known in the cooking world. If you don't believe me, look at the sodium content of a McDonalds or Burger King milkshake. It's not a plot to make you more thirsty or something; they just put salt in to make it taste better (especially for the first few mouthfuls). These fast food places know that no one buys their food because it's healthy, so the only thing they can do is make it as delicious as possible, and salt is an integral part of that.
Whether or not it is unnecessary to add salt to oatmeal, you should be aware that sodium (which salt has about 2325 mg of per teaspoon) is an essential nutrient which means your body cannot produce it and you need it to survive. The WHO recommends that people who do not have a reason to limit their sodium should consume less than 70 mmol (1700 mg) of sodium and consuming an equivalent amount (70-80 mmol, or 2900-3300 mg) of potassium.
they do because when you put too much salt in the cookies, they taste salty at the end. try not to put too much salt in them

It depends on the type of oatmeal and what you put as a topping. But usually 1/2 cup of some types of oatmeal will probably have about 140-160 calories .
