it encourages the horse to strike off onto the correct lead. as the outside hind leg is the horse's first leg which it uses in canter it encourages them to use it.
To canter a horse, you need to first establish a rythmic and energetic trot. Then, take your outside leg a little bit further back and sit to the trot. Put your leg on a little firmer and lean a bit forward and the horse should make the transition to canter.
a canter pirrouette is a high level dressage movement. when the horse does a canter pirrouette its hind legs stay in the roughly same position as the front legs canter a arch around the outside. it is a turn to and you put one of your legs to the front of the knee( inside) and turn on the oposite leg. if your right leg is on your left knee than you turn to the right
First you have to put yourself in a two point postion. Back straight, inside reins up outside reins taught, with the horses head pointing to the outside. Your inside leg should be by the girth your outside leg behind it. Tell your horse you're planning to canter then nudge him three times to get him to go, he'll probably start with a trot nudge again til he canters. You'll know the whole beat changes.
Some horses respond better with voice or leg. If leg then to get them to walk, give them a nudge and trot, another nudge. Canter, put your outside leg back and inside leg slightly forward and squeeze hard. If they don't respond then give them a harder nudge or a little tap with the crop / whip. If voice then tell them to walk, tell them to trot, canter and so on. Saying it in a calm, clear voice would be ideal. Hope this helped!
then you can't put it back on.
Pretty simple, (personally I think its easier than a trot.) Its best to enter a canter at sitting trot. Put your heels back and sit down in the saddle. Its also best to bridge your reins in canter, but its great fun, really. GemsGems3 x
