Enzymes are proteins which act as catalysts for various reactions that occur in cells. (A catalyst speeds up a reaction without being permanently altered itself). Some proteins function in other ways like transporting substances across the cell membrane or providing structure. Therefore, all enzymes are proteins but not all proteins are enzymes.
