Remembrance Day is observed on November 11 in remembrance of the end of hostilities in World War I on that day in 1918. Hostilities ended at the "11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month," so that is why you would stop wearing the poppy after that time.

during WWl many soldiers died in Belgium and France where they died in the fields that were awash with poppies, so a Canadian soldier John McRae wrote a poem "In Flanders Fields" ( Flandre being a Belgian town) so the poppy became a symbol to honour all the many soldiers who fought in WWl, WWll, and the Korean War, now also the Iraqi and the Afghanistan wars as well.

Please wear a poppy on November 11.

To symbolise the men who died for us in World War 1 and 2. We wear the poppies because they grew in the fields after the war.

The red on the poppy represents the blood, the black represents the bullets shot and the green the peace and hope for the future!!!
