The Nuremberg Tribunal was established by the US, the Soviet Union, Britain and France. The judges and prosecutors were all from these four countries.
Military tribunals are much different than federal courts. The accused does not have access to all the evidence against them; nor do they get to choose their attorneys. A military commission can use illegitimate evidence (obtained by illegal wiretapping, for example) but a civilian trial cannot. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has already been tried by military tribunal, and the decision has been made by the Obama Administration to try him by civilian trial in New York.
