The planet's accessibility to observation, all other planets within telescopic range have their surfaces hidden by clouds, except for Mercury, whose nearness to the sun makes viewing difficult.
One reason is the fact that Mars is the closest planet to Earth, so it's very easy to see, and it only takes a couple of years to get there with a probe. Since it's so close, it is able to be studied to a greater degree of detail, so we inevitably know more about it than other planets that are farther away.
Another reason is that between Mars and Venus, the 2 planets closest to the Earth, Mars is much more easy to study. It would be almost pointless to send a probe to Venus because it would have a hard time surviving the landing through it's thick and scorching atmosphere, not to mention being crushed under it's extreme gravity once it has landed. Since Mars has a thin atmosphere and it is neither extremely hot or cold, it has much more ideal conditions under which it can be studied.
In many ways, Mars more closely resembles earth than any other body in the Solar System, and
almost certainly had water and a denser atmosphere at some point earlier in it's history. Did simple life forms evolve there briedly before the planet went dead? That's probably the #1 question scientists would like to study on the Martian surface.
Because it's closer to Earth than the other planets.
Mars is being studied because scientist wants to know if Mars might have been hospitable for microbial life in the past, or might be conducive to life now.
Because it's the nearest planet to earth and they want to see if when earth gets destroyed the people in 10,000 or so years could travel to mars
because it is nearer to Earth.
ummm there were nine planets but scientists decided that Pluto was a dwarf planet so i don't think it counts anymore
When the sun was being born, matter that was circling around it formed into planets. There was hundreds of planets, but most of them were destroyed when they crashed into each other. Eventually, only the main 8 planets were left. Then water came on earth from comets.(scientists think so anyway) and life was formed
Scientist have been sending rovers and astronauts to the other planets to detect life on other planets. (I think I'm not 100% sure, sorry)
no because scientists think that earth is the only planet in the universe that supports life :3
We don't know about any other other place, besides Earth, that harbors life. But many scientists think that there is life on other planets.
venusmars
nobody believe in the planets at first
At the same time that the Earth (and the other planets) formed : 4.5 billion years ago.
Venus, mars, Jupiter, satren, Uranus and i think Neptune
yes, in 2015 scientists think new planets will be created
They say it all had to do with the Big Bang Theroy!
Because they study many planets and their geography and atmosphere, in Earth Science you study the geology of Earth just like Astronomers study geology of other planets.
No. scientists have found dozens of planets about the same size as Eris and Pluto. I think they should just be Dwarf planets.
The instrument scientists use to observe the planets is a high powered telescope.

My life here in New York is great. Some scientists think that there is life on other planets. The criminal was convicted and given a life sentence.
