Many people find that if they re sick, injured in a car crash or have a toothache depending on surgeons, EMTs or dentists is a very useful and satisfying trait.Many people who have problem with relationships, money, fixing a flat tie, or addictions find that the only help they need is themselves.
Many people who use the options presented in the above examples and then "praise the lord" are discounting the hard work, training and humanity of those providing the solution.
Many people who trust god to win lotteries or overcome disease stay poor or die. The few that are fortunate enough to win due to unspecified causes are "the exception that proves the rule" to folks who see trusting god as an example. In reality they are statistics.

∙ 8y agoTrusting in God rather than surgeons and physicians is rare these days, but some believe that pilgrimages to sacred sites give them a chance of a cure.
Trusting in the ethical behaviour of another person is risky, depending on how well we know the person. Some believe that they are trusting in God, when they are really only trusting the religious person who claims to speak for God and has taught an interpretation of The Bible. If the religious person is mistaken or actually of ill intent, then perceived trust in God can be worse than trusting a stranger.
