That will depend on how the links are structured. If they are links to the web, they should work. If they are to other parts of the spreadsheet, they should work. If they are links to other files, then you have to make sure they are specified properly. The part of the link that indicates where to find the file is known as the path. If the location of an original file changes, it may affect how the path works. If a link looks for a file in the current folder and the file is moved to a new folder, then it may not look in the original folder unless the link has specifically told it to look in that particular folder. So you need to check how the links that are not working are structured in the original file.

The most obvious visible difference is the ribbon bar (new menu system) displayed by all Office 2007 products. You also will notice a new file format. Excel 2003 uses an extension of XLS, while Excel 2007 uses the extension of XLXS, You can open Excel 2003 files in Excel 2007, but not the other way around. Excel 2007 adds many new functions. See related links for what's new with Excel 2007. Also see the related links for how to match the old Excel 2003 menu items with the new Excel 2007 ribbon.
Data can be imported from other applications and displayed in Powerpoint. Data can be presented in tables that could have come from other applications, such as Excel, Access or Word. Links can enable the data in the presentation to always be up to date, so when the other files change, the presentation will have the most up to date data. Powerpoint can show the actual data in the files, or just have links to the files on the slides that the user can clidk on to open the files.
I am not aware of any sharing access for individual Excel files (if someone reading this knows how to do this with Windows, please improve the answer). File sharing permissions are for giving access to folders, not individual files. If you are not able to change the sharing permissions on the folder in which you have the Excel file stored, move the file to a folder or drive without sharing permissions. See related questions and links for information about file and folder sharing.
