Despite being inside of your eye, there are cells that normally never see light. When you go from a low light area to a bright area, your pupils are still dialated, the light entering is not focused onto the cells in the back of your eye that are designed for seeing, and light falls on these other sensitive cells causing the pain that you feel.

∙ 16y agoLight sensitivity (Photophobia) has numerous causes and can be a symptom of an underlying eye condition. If you experience light sensitivity, it is important that you visit your optometris to dermine the cause. Photophobia can often be treated but treatments depend on the cause. See your optometrist for further advice.

∙ 13y agoContacts make your eyes burn because you didnt get them from the right place or you do not have the proper solution to clean the contacts with. There can also be the fact that you may have mixed water in with it at some point...when you clean your contacts case never use water for your contacts and for your case-always let it dry out before putting more in. Also, I've heard that the Clean Care solution burns really bad for some reason but I don't actually have that kind but you might but so hopefully this may help a bit more.

∙ 9y agoEyes are generally quite sensitive to bright lights because it causes an overload on optical receptors. The instinctual closing of eyes in bright light gives the brain a chance to adjust to the change in conditions.
