Second you problem is probably A clogged or non-functional IAC (Intake Air Control) valve (located on the back of the intake plenum near the firewall) it has two bolts in it, a electrical plug and two hoses, the hoses have coolant in them so be prepared to learn how to bleed the coolant system i.e. manual.
If that doesn't fix it try cleaning the EGR system or cleaning and inspecting the FIT (Fast Idle Thermo) valve.
