You might want to check the torque converter clutch solenoid. It's a plug on the transmission in front of the car. Unplug it and try driving, if that's it, you can drive the car that way, it just uses a little more gas. to replace the sensor you have to go to a transmission shop.

on my 328i I had that problem, and found that the tube that held the oil dipstick was sucking air at it's base where it meets the engine.
