does it stall when you stop? like at a light.the most common stalling without tripping the check engine light is the idle air control motor.they get lazy and slow when you let off the throttle they control the air flow to the throttle body for proper idle.the iac is located on the back of the throttle body.remove it and see how filthy it is.clean it and the hole it lives in with throttle cleaner.if its really filthy this may fix it.if not get a new one.if not at a stop shoot me a message I'll try to help
you could pull off your positive battery cable if it stalls out then you alternator is the problem
Try the crank sensor first, then the cam sensor. without these the car will not spark. Most commonly the crank sensor though.

The fuel tank capacity for a 1996 Dodge Neon is approximately 13.2 gallons (50 liters). This capacity allows for a reasonable driving range, making it suitable for daily commuting.
No.
I had the same problem with a 1996 Dodge Avenger 4-cylinder manual transmission and found out that is was the Idle Air Control Motor is located right underneath the Throttle position sensor. It will run as long as a revved the engine but as soon as I would let go of the gas pedal it would not idle and it would shut-off.

Anywhere from 14 to 17 mpg; I didn't notice any difference between city driving and highway driving in either of the '96 Grand Caravans I owned.
The body computer controls the wipers. The transmission computer controls the transmission. The engine computer controls the engine. The wiper issue is probably a failed wiper/turn signal switch. Have the TCM and PCM checked for codes for the other two issues.
