i have a 1986 Chevy Astro cargo van and while driving the van will cut off and my battery will go died but i took it to autozone and the put it on the machine and the test says my alternator is goo as well as the battery
I have owned two Astro Vans 1989 and 1999 and had this problem on both of them.
I was able to trace the source to the Coil.
You may also have a problem with the Distributor Cap and/or Wires.
What happens is that the coil devlopes a short, sometimes because the distributor cap/wires have developed enough resistance that the spark jumps from the coil pack to the valve covers.
Not exactly sure why it drains the battery.
The only way I found it was to run the engine with out the engine cover on and watch for the spark jumping from the coil pack to the valve cover.
If you change the distributor cap and rotor don't get ones with Brass Contacts, they will corode and create the resistance issue. I have had the best luck with OEM cap and rotor.
fuel pump might be going out
Replace the fuel filter, that is a good place to start.
NO... Chevy did not use an ENERITA fuel cut off switch on there trucks.
adjust the chock if it has carb.
2002 chevy trailblazer cut off everytime i make a complete stop, what is the cause of the truck cutting off?
What would cause my VW golf to cut out whist driving
GM vehicles do not have a fuel cut off switch.
Cut the springs from the front & burn the back fleas
If you mean 'cut off' as in the car dies while driving its probably your alternator.
The most common issue is a fuel filter. It could be a few other things, but the fuel filter is where I would start.
why does it matter if you're driving down a hill? At least it didn't cut off when you were driving up a hill? And I don't know why it would cut off I'm 13.
Several things can cause your car to cut off while driving. Run a computer check for possible bad codes to see what may show up as a cause.
