I do! Ancient civilizations used to denote March as the first month of the calendar year, as it was the "rebirth" period after the winter, the beginning of planting season, etc. Therefore, this would make DECember the tenth month of the year, NOVember the ninth, and AUG(oct)ust the eighth month.

What does September mean in the latin language?

September comes from the Latin root "septe", meaning "Seven". Curiously, several of our months come from Latin numbers, and they're all off by two. "September" for seven, even though that's the 9th month, "October" from "octo" for eight when October is the tenth month, "November" from "nona" for nine, and December from the Roman word for ten, when December is the 12th month. The reason for the disconnect is that the Roman months were numbered that way because the year began around the time of the spring equinox, which is in March.

How come December is the 12th month and not the 10th month?

As the name indicate "DECEMBER" came from the word "Deca" so it must be tenth month but it is not.Similarly this condition is with other months also such as "SEPTEMBER","OCTOBER","NOVEMBER".This is because in past centuries, there were ten months and December was the tenth month as it is the last month but then few years later two more months were added in the year that were June and July that were placed in 6th and7th position therefore the arrangement of some months like December was changed and December was placed in 12th position.because I said so

Information on the Origin of month of October?

The last four months of the year are named after numbers. September (from the Latin for seventh month), October (8th), November (9th), and December (10th). But wait! Isn't October the 10th month? Isn't December the 12th month? Of course they are. These names come from the Latin words (Septimus, Octavus, Nonus, Decimus) but date from a calendar that had only 10 months. Two months named for emperors (Caesar Julius, Caesar Augustus) were inserted into the new "Julian" calendar, leaving us with the word for 8th month attached to our 10th month. Silly? Yes. True? Yes.
