Jesus prayed for His executioners because, right to the end of His life on earth He loved all men and wanted the best for them - in this case for those who were carrying out their duties as Roman executioners, and thus not necessarily agreeing with the sentence but nevertheless doing their duty on pain of death.

That Jesus' prayer was answered is clear from the fact that the commander of the group of soldiers carrying out the execution evidently believed in who Jesus was, when he witnessed how Jesus died. This man's exclamation, at the moment of Jesus' death is recorded for us to see and appreciate how a man who had undoubtedly dispatched quite a number to the grave noticed something unique and remarkable about Jesus' death which set Him apart from all other men. Matthew 27:54 records the remark ''...Truly this was the Son of God." (see also Mark 15:39).

On a number of occasions Jesus is recorded in the Gospels as having prayed to His heavenly Father. This demonstrates both His humility as the Son and His desire to set believers an example that we should ''follow in His steps.'' It has nothing to do with His nature as the eternal Son of God, the infinite creator of the universe and the Saviour of all mankind. A number of times Jesus had taught His disciples to ''pray for those who persecute you'' and here set the ultimate example as was being crucified.

Luke 23:34: "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

The Synoptic Gospels did not portray Jesus as God, merely as the son of God. It was only the last gospel, John's Gospel, that clearly stated that Jesus was pre-existent God. So Luke saw Jesus as quite distinct from God when he had Jesus pray for his executioners.

Jesus is GOD so when you pray, pray through Christ Jesus so that your prayers may be heard. no other way but the Jesus. repent from your sins, accept him as your lord and saviour then, you are saved Answer Jesus is a God in his own right. When we pray we pray to the Father through Jesus Christ who is our medieator between us and God the Father. With the kindest respect to the first to answer, we are saved after all we can do in righteousness. We are not saved by God's grace but by our own effort here on earth. A sinner cannot be saved by grace alone. He must repent and sin no more. Niether will a death bed confession save us for we will have no time to do good works and prove our worth.

Why doesn't the LDS church pray to Jesus?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "LDS" or "Mormon" church) pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. This is because Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God - the "advocate with the Father" (1 John 2:1), "mediator between God and men" (1 Timothy 2:5) and "the way [by which] man cometh unto the Father" (John 14:6) - Jesus and His Father (God the Father or Heavenly Father) are two individual beings, and the only way to approach God the Father is in the name and through the grace of Jesus Christ. The New Testament records that when Jesus was on earth, He prayed many times. He was not praying to himself - he was praying to God, His Father. He did not pray to any other object or being and in fact prohibited it. Mormons follow this directive by praying only to God the Father, and they approach God in the way that scripture directs - through Jesus Christ, who said "No man cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6)This doctrine of praying to God alone and not to Jesus is clarified in the Book of Mormon, in 3 Nephi chapter 19. In this chapter, Jesus Christ is visiting the people in the American continent after His resurrection. He commands the people to pray and they begin to pray to Him (Jesus). He in turn says a prayer in their behalf, saying that "they pray unto me because I am with them" and asking God to hear those prayers. This illustrates Jesus' role as the mediator between God and man and the Biblical truth that "there is one God, and one mediator between God and men" (1 Timothy 2:5).If you are interested in reading more on the Mormon doctrines surrounding this topic, visit:LDS.org - What is Prayer?Mormon.org: - Who is God?Mormon.org - Who is Jesus?

Did Jesus ascended to heaven by his own power or by God's?

god

If Jesus is God Or Lord Who did he pray to Himself Also why in the bible does it not say anything about the trinity..?

Jesus was setting an example for us on when and how we should pray when we need it the most. The bible does mention the trinity in the Book of Genesis. For example. it mentions "let us make man in our own likeness". People who do not realize that Jesus is the messiah are blind, but they will find out that he is the truth and the way of life.

If you have already accepted Jesus as your Savior do you still need Priests or Pastors or Religion?

No, you do not need a priest or a pastor. You need to pray and study your bible because that is how you begin to build a relationship of your own with God. Having your own relationship is what it is about, not someone else's relationship with God like your priest or your pastor.

Why Buddhist pray to Jesus?

They don't pray to Jesus any more than Christians pray to Horus. No religion takes up the worship of a deity other than their own. In this case Buddhists have no deities and would have no reason to utilize someone else's

If Jesus is God then why did Jesus pray?

Because Jesus Christ ( God the Son ) always did those things that pleased His Father ( God the Father ) ... Jesus Christ was the example to every believing Israelite, as to their conduct and understanding toward God the Father ... simple . In addition to this, prayer is not simply 'talking to God'. Prayer involves listening to God, and simply being one with him. A good example of this is the meditative prayer and worship as experienced in a Taize service. Christians believe that Jesus is God in human form, and so, as a human, he needed to pray. However, in all his prayers he never prayed to 'God' but to his 'Father'. We accept this these days as second nature (eg when we pray the Lord's Prayer... 'Our Father...') but to the Jew in those days. calling God 'Father' was so totally new. And more to the point, Jesus called his Father God 'Abba' which, roughly translated means 'Daddy'. this places the relationship between Jesus and his Father God on a very intimate basis so that God, once an aloof deity in the Jewish culture, becomes as close as one's own Father. Jesus called himself 'God the Son' or simply 'The Son' so it is absolutely necessary that Father and Son should converse and communicate - and this two-way communication is called prayer. Answer May I add to John's answer. Jesus Christ is in reality a God in His own right. You may have heard it said in churches God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. This is said because those churches believe in the Trinity i.e. Three God's in one person. In reality they are three separate personages all of whom are God's. The God Jesus prayed to his father because God the Father is the highest of all the God's, or the father of all the God's. Respectfully submitted.
