As the Disney influence spread to TV, and no less than two separate shows- Mickey Mouse Club and Walt Disney"s wonderful world of Color- it became a regular practice to run both old and not-so-old Disney films on Wonderful World and occasionally serialized on Mickey Mouse club. A basic story might be broken up into several episodes for MMC purposes. This was done with Toby Tyler, for example. There were some cuts made. I saw the original film on TV as a kid and distinctly remembered the Monkey, Mr. Tubbs ( not stubs) died. Somehow this plot twist was edited out of the Mickey Mouse Club version. How the Monkey died was not specified. I seem to recall some prankster put live ammunition in his prop revolver, and the poor ape shot himself, fatally.

the question is somewhat ambiguous. There have been movies with movie-within that are not really subplots. The old Mickey Mouse Club used this technique to run some Disney films in serial fashion- they would show the Mickey Mouse club in a movie house- and then roll Em. They serialized a number of Disney dramas in this fashion. Closer to what you might be thinking there is a scene in the film E.T. where Elliott is watching This Island Earth and UFO sequences thereof, on a small Tv set. It really doesm\n"t add anything to the plot. Those are two examples. As far as banned films, that is a subject in itself.
The Disney hegemony was so vast it had TWO separate television programs running concurrently- in the fifties and sixties and possibly later with some changes made- as Disney died in l966. The shows were the Mickey Mouse Club which began in l955 ( originally called Disneyland)- which also opened that year. the Walt Disney"s wonderful world of color- ran on sundays= extremely long run, and featured reruns of Disney films- which were also occasionally serialized ( spread out over several episodes_ in the Mickey Mouse Club. I know this was done with the circus drama (Toby Tyler) in the movie version- the Monkey, Mr. Tubbs, died- and this was a major juncture of the plot- the adapted version may have smoothed it out ( monkey may have been missing, wandered off, etc) So, like the Reader"s digest it is difficult to establish ( First Use!) Almost all Wonderful World or Color films were originally made for the Movie houses- then adapted. WWC was always on Sundays- weekly- the Mickey Mouse club aired daily in some locations- they, too, kept the chronology vague, to enhance rerun potential.
