Ohio is not located near any major fault lines.
Ohio does occasionally get earthquakes but they're low of the Richter scale. Usually only in the 3's. The strongest I remember was in the 5's. I only remember one in my lifetime (43 years) that I could actually feel.

∙ 14y agoThe number of earthquakes a place has depends on the proximity of faults - tectonic plates in the crust of the earth. An earthquake happens when two tectonic plates rub, collide, or separate. So New York must not be sitting on any major faults.

Why does the UK get very light earthquakes?
There are very few regions of the world that are aseismic. Even Antarctica has them. The cause of earthquakes include plate tectonics, volcanic activity, elevation of land due to isostasy after removal if ice sheets, and just adjustments of the geological strata. In other words there is no good reason why GB should not have them. Many other countries would like to think they are free from natural disasters as well.
