Ramadan happens to show that you are disciplined towards Allah
Answer 2 :
There are too many wisdoms behind the existence of Ramadan, I'll tell you some of what in my head :
1. Fasting in Ramadan teaches all the Muslims many great values such as "patience" & Allah (God ) loves the patient people as He said in the Holy Quran.
2. Muslims are forbidden ,in the time of fasting, from allowable things such as food & water. Consequently, this is a lesson for them to abandon all the guilts all the time because this is much easier for them as long as they do what is more difficult.
3. Fasting in Ramadan makes the Muslims feel of both hunger & thirst ,this feeling is a very effective way to remind them of the hungry & thirsty people, then it pushes them to provide all the poor & needy people with helps,charity...etc.
4. This is the month of the great double rewards from The Generous Allah, this encourages Muslims to do good deeds more & more in this month. For example:
Sadaqa(charity), reading the Holy Quran, Praying at the favoured time at night...etc.
Also, it's a great chance to gain the forgiveness from Allah & to try to start with a clean sheet with Him. But it's important to assure that a Muslim must return back the rights of the people if he took any of them ,then to beseech Allah's mercy & forgiveness.
5. Ramadan has many spiritual values, it indicates the unity of the Islamic nation.
For example, all the Muslims of a country start eating at the same time in Ramadan.
in the family itself ,all the members must meet to share eating. That's a very nice way to strengthen the bonds between them.
Operation Ramadan happened in 1982-07.

At the end of Ramadan , Muslims celebrate Eid ul fitr
You say Ramadan Kareem and your reply is Allah Akram. Or you simply say Ramadan Mubarak but after Ramadan has started.
During Ramadan you greet by saying: "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Ramadan Kareem" or "Marhaban ya Ramadan"
The Holy Prophet(p.b.u.h) received his first revelation in the month of Ramadhan.

This is the Eid al-Fitr, the first day of the following month. People are having the sense of festivity after enduring a month of fasting.
When people say Ramadan mubarak or mubarak Ramadan it basically means "happy ramadan" so you just say back to them Khair mubarak and ramadan mubarak to you too.
Yes, one might say similar things as other religions, such as Happy Ramadan! or Ramadan Blessings! A common greeting is Ramadan Mubarak! or on the end of Ramadan, during Eid al-Fitr, a common greeting might be Eid Mubarak!
