Shikamaru has been written in as a very lazy character, who wants nothing more than to lie down in a bed of wild flowers and watch the cloud formations drift by! He turns out to be the smartest one of Naruto's ninja class, and the Lady Hokage must depend upon him to lead missions for them. So, Shikamaru reluctantly shoulders the burden, grumbling all the time about what a drag it is!
