Long ago, the US used to belong to the UK. The reason why the United Kingdom is called UK is because United Kingdom is where the Queen of the Commonwealth countries stays. The reason why the United States is called the US is because it has the most states plus was united from the UK when this country used to belong to the United Kingdom.
