Answer: because he has more power than him
Answer: It is all about the prophecy. Voldemort is worried, precisely because of the prophecy, about the possibility that Harry Potter may eventually defeat him.
This is revealed in a later book. Voldemort heard about a certain prophecy, according to which a child, born in July, might cause his downfall. This may have referred to Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom; for some reason, Voldemort decided it referred to Harry Potter - and the very fact that he tried to kill him caused the prophecy to refer to Harry Potter. This is revealed in a later book. "The big deal" is that it's what prompted Voldemort to go after Harry in the first place. The prophecy speaks of an enemy with powers to match the Dark Lord's -- that's Harry. Voldemort attacked Harry because of the prophecy, because he believed that the person of whom the prophecy spoke was his one and only threat. No prophecy=no Harry Potter books. ;)
The Harry Potter prophecy can be found on pg. 841 of Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix and basically says that a child will be born at the end of July to parents who defeated lord voldemort 3 times, voldemort will mark that child as his equal, but the child will have a power that voldemort doesn't, and "And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives."- Professor Trelawney. the prophecy can apply to either Harry or Neville Longbottom but as Voldemort chose Harry by trying to kill him it means Harry.
In the prophecy it says"neither can live while the other survives". So Harry and Voldemort have to die, so one of them can survive.
Actually his main target was Harry Potter. The reason he wanted to kill him was because of a prophecy.
Voldemort didn't kill Harry, he tried to because a prophecy stated that Harry would be able to destroy him. However he failed and he was killed by his own backfiring curse.
He overheard part of the prophecy delivered to Dumbledore by Sibyll Trelawney and relayed that information to Voldemort. Voldemort identified Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom as the two possible subjects of the prophecy and decided Harry was the right one - and killed his parents (including Lilly) to get to Harry.
Well, if Harry Potter had died the night Voldemort tried to kill him, Voldemort wouldn't care. It would just be another normal murder. But when Harry survived, Voldemort was defeated. Harry was the one who made Voldemort disappear for so long. Now Harry gets praise because he defeated Voldemort. Now Voldemort wants to kill Harry because he wants to show that Harry Potter is no better then him. Voldemort is better than Harry. That's why Voldemort hat Harry. Sorry it's so long. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Actually, there was a prophecy that said that a baby born in the end of June would defeat him. Voldemort could have chosen Neville Longbottom but he chose Harry instead. So then, Voldemort tried tokill Harry but Harry didn't die because his mother protected him with the strongest magic, love.
He told Voldemort the Prophecy, wich eventually led to their death.
Yes Voldemort does die, Harry Potter defeats him
The movie in which Harry Potter sees Voldemort in a mirror as himself is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. :)
Voldemort dies, Harry does not.
