The WikiAnswers home page only show the newest questions (and there are new questions every few seconds) or the newest answers. So it's quite unlikely that you'll notice you question on the home page unless you have a tab of the WikiAnswers home page open and refresh the page instantly after posting you question.

Why is WikiAnswers continuing to answer your question when you have the answer?
Because it is in the data base. People can edit any answer any time. We at WikiAnswers believe that anyone can add to an answer and make it better, so the question usually remains open unless there is clear indication that it is being vandalized.
Why do all articles on this site have to be in the form of a question?
WikiAnswers is a question and answer site. We have very carefully designed systems to enable people to find, exchange, and develop information in the form of questions. If we were just organized by keywords WikiAnswers would be a search engine. If we were just organized by free-form posts WikiAnswers would be an open discussion forum.

Every question is different, so there is no way to predict whether a given question has an inaccurate answer. Because WikiAnswers is based on the "open" wiki format (whereby anyone can share their knowledge associated with a question), answers may not be accurate. There are no guarantees made as to the validity of any answer on the website. There is a higher probability of an answer being accurate when it is written by a supervisor or protected by a supervisor. Recently asked questions are more likely to have current information in the answer.

To ask a more extended question on WikiAnswers, post a brief question, including something like More details in discussion. Post your question, then go back into "Answer it" and click on the "discussion" tab. A page will open where you can make the question as long as it needs to be.
