Lucas had a little bit of the back story in his head when he wrote the first trilogy, but he originally wrote the original stories. So, he made those and then expounded on the back story later.

George Lucas wrote and directed 'Star Wars' in 1977. After its amazing success, he took a larger storyline he had invisioned and written a brief outline before some years before and turned it into the sequels, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. 1977's 'Star Wars' was renamed 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope', and the next two films were Episodes V and VI respectively.

George then held off making Episodes 1,2 and 3 until he thought the technology existed to bring his vision to life, such as the CGI necessary to create landscapes not seen on earth, such as entire planets covered by cities, or grand and unique palances and underwater cities. The first of three prequels was released in 1999, entitled 'Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace'. The second and third prequels, making episode II and III, were 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Revenge of the Sith' in 2002 and 2005 respectively.

So if you look at the entire 6 film saga, episode 4 was written and filmed first, then 5, then 6, then 1, then 2, and finally number 3.

But you must remember in 1977 there was only going to be one film, and only after its huge success did George Lucas title it episode 4, forcing him to go back and make episodes 1, 2 and 3 later. These three episodes were *not* originally part of the Star Wars saga as he invisioned and wrote it back in 1977, he did this in the mid-1990's. So he made the original saga and wrote the prequel saga 20 years later.

Hope this helps :)

In inventing languages for aliens in movies, writers often follow the language patterns in other Earth languages ( for example Klingon is in the word and case format of Swahili and Spock talks in Vulcan which is French written backwards). Even Jar Jar Binks is given an accent and speech pattern similar to that of the West Indies.

In Yoda's case, he is not talking backwards or in a foreign language. He is arranging the adjectives, nouns and verbs in the format of Latin. As an example, the Latin saying "Vir sapit qui pauca loquitur." is generally translated as "It is a wise man who speaks little." However a word for word translation comes across as a very Yoda like "A man of wisdom (is he) who little speaks" and Virgil's "Audentis fortuna iuvat" is generally translated as "Fortune favors the brave." but is really a Yodaesque "Boldness the fortunes favour."

Because Lucas wrote the script to episodes 4, 5 and 6 in one big chunk but later decided to release them in three parts, originally A New Hope was just called star wars. Later he decided to expand his story with three prequels so he renamed the first film Episode 4 A New Hope and released 5 and 6 with plans to release 1, 2 and 3 afterwards.

Because when the first film was made in 1977, Lucas did not expect his creation to be a big hit. Since it was, he decided to make more. But then after a while, he decided to make events that revealed every question asked about what happens before the original trilogy's timeline takes place

He originally didn't expect the first film to be a big hit, but he then decided to make 2 sequels. The prequel trilogy didn't come into his mind until nearly 20 years after the first film was released
