replace the egr valve the one you have is not good
i checked and found unplugged wires
The spark plugs along with the plug wires are hidden very well... The spark plugs are located under the log plastic strip on top of the valve cover.
plug them back together
Looking at the engine from the front of the car, the EGR valve is directly behind the valve cover (right side). It has a wiring harness connected to it with multiple wires. It sits straight down on the engine and is attached with two bolts. ( Note: the front of the valve cover is next to the upper engine mount)

You have a burnt valve or cracked head. I had 1996 Saturn with the same problem. It was a burnt valve. The garage wants a arm and leg to do the work. I got help and did it all, even changed timing chain for $200.00.
There is a throttle position sensor mounted to the throttle body. That's the place where the air intake valve sits near the top of the engine. Look for the throttle butterfly valve; on the end of the butterfly valve shaft should be a little sensor with wires connected; that's the throttle position sensor.
plugs, wires, coolant temp sensor, fuel pump
THERE ARE TWO WIRES
You may have the wires to the wrong plugs.
Check the fan. Sometimes the wires come unplugged. Mine does it sometimes too.
Could be the Throttle Positioning Sensor.
