Several things:
The preheat system will make it look like you have an alternator cut out first thing on a cool or cold morning, but once you drive away that will stop.
From there the description of the problem will be one of four things:
its a cummins if youre talking about the new 6.7 its got a lot, rem its a cummins and its a dodge, it only has the best inclass towing whats better
Only Dodge will honor the warranty.
Cummins is good. Dodge is not. Cummins has always been a good engine. Dodge is lucky to have the contract with Cummins. I have 2 Dodge Cummins (an 1992 and 2006). Both have electrical problems and the transmission in my 2006 isn't great and that's with stock power and only 93,000 miles. The 12-valve Cummins is all mechanical- easy and cheap to get power out of it. The 24-valve Cummins is computerized- have to buy a programmer. The best combination would be a Cummins in a Chevy.
it is only in there F-650's and F-750's. Ford does not own Cummins, neither does Dodge. Cummins is a separate company.
The only engine used in a Dodge vehicle that does not have a timing chain or belt would be the Cummins diesel. The Cummins diesel uses timing gears.
Dodge, Ford only had the Cummins in the F-650 chassis. Ford used International diesels until, the new 6.7l V8 which they built in house.
In 2004, the Dodge Cummins Diesel was not equipped with an oxygen sensor. The 2007.5 and newer Cummins 6.7 liter Bluetec diesels have an O2 sensor in the downpipe. Typically, only particulate filter equipped diesels have O2 sensors.
No. A hemi is only made by Dodge along with Cummins Turbo Diesel
it means Cummins who i believe was the engineer who created the system of witch a Cummins diesel engine works. Now that is only true if your van is a Dodge.
Cummins 360 ?? I'm assuming you are talking about the Cummins 5.9L, like in a Dodge pickup. When you pop the hood, look at the left (passenger) side up against the firewall. Look for the yellow cap that says "Engine coolant only."
dodge/ram has used two v8 engines in its trucks since 2004, the 4.7 and the 5.7 hemi... before '04 it was the 5.9v8 (360 cubic inch)... the diesel engines in dodge trucks are built by Cummins, and are all inline six (I6), none of the diesel dodges have v8 inches. therefore there was never a 'magnum v8 cummins' since there was never a v8 cummins, hope that helps!
My best advice, born from owning quite a few Cummins' powered vehicles, is to take it to a Cummins mechanic. If the pressures through the fuel system gets out of sync you can burn up the injector pump and then not only are you replacing the injectors, the pump and the lift pump. Mucho donero...
