The Dodge pickup trucks with Cummins engines are diesel turbocharger engines. They are built by the Cummins company and have been used in Dodge Ram trucks since 1989.
Need to know if it has the Mack or Cummins engine in order to answer.
Not the F250, F350, etc. Dodge and Cummins just signed a multi year contract to keep the Cummins in the Dodge trucks.
The engine displacement of a Cummins engine in a Peterbilt truck can vary depending on the specific model. Common Cummins engines found in Peterbilt trucks, such as the ISX or X15, typically range from about 8.9 to 15.0 liters. For example, the ISX15 engine has a displacement of 15 liters. Always check the specific engine model for precise specifications.
You were only able to get a Cummins engine in a truck made by GMC up until 1987, and that was only in heavy duty Class 8 trucks made by GMC (e.g., GMC General, GMC Brigadier, GMC Astro, etc.).

The horsepower of a 1997 Cummins engine can vary depending on the specific model and configuration. For example, the 5.9L Cummins turbocharged diesel engine, commonly found in Dodge Ram trucks of that era, typically produces between 175 to 235 horsepower, depending on the tuning and application. Other Cummins engines from that year may have different specifications, so it's important to refer to the specific engine model for exact figures.
They have good power, but the engine is very heavy. They have good power, but the engine is very heavy.
The Cummins motor is not a "Dodge". Dodge does use the "b" series Cummins engine in its pick up trucks. Ford does use the Cummins in its F650 and larger trucks. NO, Ford never has used the Cummins Diesel as far as I know. Up until 2010 the Powerstroke was built by Navistar, formerly International Harvester. In 2010 Ford starting building the Powerstroke themselves but kept the name. Dodge uses the Cummins diesel and GM uses the Duramax which was designed jointly with isuzu.
Ford IS NOT putting Cummins in their trucks. Chrysler Corporation and Cummins Diesel Engines, Inc. just signed a multi-year contract to keep Cummins engines in Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks. You can get a Cummins diesel in a Ford F-650 or Ford F-750. The F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 all have the Powerstroke diesel engines.
