One of the reasons is because of your internal clock. Have you ever noticed that your body temperature drops in the evening when it is ready for sleep and warmer when you wake up? Also, external environment has a lot to do with it. Your body will react and try to achieve homeostasis if it becomes over-heated or too cold.
