usually it's down to a short circuit, wires touching etc. or the fuse could be under rated.
Most common cause is a low refrigerant charge Could be a blown fuse
There is a fuse for the air conditioner and one for the fan. You have a power source to the fuse. From the fuse the relay gets it's power and then the fan and or the air conditioner compressor.
Did you happen to move it to Defrost when you turned it off? The ac compressor also runs in the defrost cycle to keep the seals lubricated during the winter months when the ac is not used.
I believe that kicks on when the AC is turned on to raise the idle to compensate for the AC compressor load.
If there is a fuse for it, it should be in the fuse/relay box under the hood next to the battery. Pop the cover off and inside the cover you'll find the fuse and relay list to identify their positions.
which fuse is the heater/AC fan fuse
It is located in front of the battery. you will see the main fuse box but it is not there, look closer to the battery you will see two small black boxes, one of them should have a/c written on top of it, pop the lid off and you will find a 25 volt fuse, this is the ac
look in your manual for the fuse box location. when you find the box they will be labled find the one that says AC and pull it out, pop the other one in.
pop the hood, and look on the passenger side upper corner. There is a black box for fuses, and it will be in there.
the ac compressor is bad
Where is de fuse for ac the toyota tacoma 1998
The passenger side cooling fan comes on when Air Conditioning is turned on. If it still does not turn on, check the AC fuse and the AC/Fan relay.
