Because when the giraffe is sleeping, you know how there are lions around?, well lions go for the giraffes and so when they sleep and a lion comes close to them and wakes them up by the sound of them jumping and stuff, they can get up easier.

How does the giraffe sleep?

It lays down to sleep. I've seen a giraffe lay down before, but not with it's head down too. Yet, if a giraffe is tired, then, I'm sure it will lay it's head down. Younger giraffes are mostly around older giraffes such as their mom and dad, so I think that they probably lay near each other to be comfortable. If you search "giraffe sleeping" on youtube, then, you may get clearer information.
