my theory is, Spiders are generally thought to be revolting because of their hairy body and long, thin legs which make one feel like the spider is going to grab you, though of course no such thing can happen. Therefore, the longer the legs and the hairier the body, the scarier the spider!

∙ 14y agoSpiders generally bite people as a defense mechanism. If you have a spider on you under your clothing and you press it against you, you can expect to be bitten. If you tease or otherwise provoke a spider that is defending a nest or web, it may bite you. We've seen a number of film and TV situations where a spider is walking on someone, but the person is not being bitten. In general, spiders just want to be left alone or be on their way, and will only bite when they feel threatened.
