It can be because of two reasons. The first is hardware failture; the second is software failture. If you have no problens with your hardware when you are playing games or doing something that requiring a lot of resources then you hardware is ok. In the case of software failture you have more choices to check. First, it can be anti-virus software failture which can be caused by a virus. If it's caused by a virus you have to use another anti-virus, for instance, free-av.com (they have free version). Second, it can be caused by an error in installation or updates you have to uninstall your anti-virus and try to install it again. If it didn't help you are welcome to ask more.

∙ 11y agoA virus doesn't always freeze your computer, it can sit in your hard disk and sent info to it's maker of just make copies of your files to fill up your disk. A virus freezes a PC when it edits, deletes or moves files that are important for the OS or a software to run. Viruses sometimes use up CPU and/or resources to make your computer dead slow.

∙ 11y agoA virus slows down a computer because, just like a real world virus, it keeps replicating until your computer is literally FULL of viruses. Otherwise, the virus deletes critical system files or data and so your computer slows down because it does no longer contain the logic to operate.
