It can occur wherever there is dry vegetation or anywhere that can fuel the fire.

Wildfires do not occur in the Sahara Desert or Saudi Arabian desert because there is little vegetation to fuel the fire and the sand is more likely to put out the fire since sand grains have pores that are so small they lack air. Fire also doesn't occur on snow because snow is made out of water that can put out the fire. Fires are more likely to not occur in rainforest or swamps because the vegetation is more wet where it can put out the fire. If the vegetation gets too dry or unhealthy it is more likely to cause a wildfire. Places where it is windy can cause the fire to spread more where it finds new areas to burn and this increases the wildfire. Areas that have experienced a drought are more likely to have a wildfire.
