If you have the heat on in the defrost position , the air conditioning compressor will
cycle on and off to help dehumidify the air if the outside temperature is about 50
degrees Fahrenheit or warmer
Is this a noise you hear all the time or just when the heat/AC is turned on? If it just happens when your heat/AC is turned on it is probably the compressor kicking in and out. On my GMC van it was very quiet, but on my Ford Ranger it is loud clunk.
Yes it does work
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer and the heat does not work, but when i try to turn the control valve to heat it makes a clicking noise. How do i fix it?
Yes a compressor will run the entire heating and cooling cycle, unless its in emergency heat in which case you will not have compressor operation. Defrost cycle is the AC mode except the outdoor fan is de energized to assist in the defrosting of the outdoor coil.
Heat goes in and out, check your coolant level it might be low.
Because its broken
I do not have heat in the car and the blend door clicks. How do I access the blend door in a 2005 Ford Explorer?
Heat energy from the sun causes water to change to a liquid to a gas
because it is going through defrost cycle
The temperature control module for a 1997 Ford explorer is the unit that controls all of the heat and ac functions. If it is not operating properly, then the heat ac and defrost will work improperly or not at all.
A broken blower fan. Had that on my Ford Explorer. Not a big deal to have a mechanic fix it, under $200
On a 1992 Ford Explorer ( A4LD automatic transmission ) I believe the modulator valve is on the passenger side of the transmission , BEHIND a heat shield
