It doesn't - but it should be 'broadly' obvious why women are sometimes nicknamed "broads" - (or used to be, before Political Correctness took firm control of the English language...!) And far fewer men than women regard or intend the term as derogatory. The reason is simply because, when viewed from behind, the adult female figure generally looks much "broader in the beam" and thus proportionally wider across the hips than that of her male counterpart - a commonplace impression often accentuated in the ideal modern woman by her contrastingly narrow wasp-like waist.
