If this engine is an interference engine it may have done damage to valve, piston, or head. Or the timing is off so far that the engine will not start. Install a new timing belt correctly and start the engine. You will then know if any damage was done.
what would the problem be with my Vauxhall astra if I was driving it and the car cut out but would start back up in 5 mins time
If it is a diesel engine it could be the glow plugs.
Get in car. Put key in ignition switch. Turn key.
check timing belt might have slipped
no if there is a car that has a chip in key then it should not start without one if it does then your cars censor for that is messed up
Your engine might be the source of the problem, rather than the battery. However, only a mechanic could tell you for sure.
Its out of time. The timing is off, check the key in the flywheel , and check to make sure the the timing chain has not jumped or slipped a tooth.
could possably have slipped a yooth on the timing check your timing belt
if the timing belt has broke on a vauxhall corsa 1.4 will the pistons hit the valves
Check the ignition coil on the Cheyenne. If it is ok, check the timing. The timing chain could have slipped or broken causing the engine to not start.
No it will not start and if the timing belt has jumped you can severly damage the valve train in your engine by attempting to start it. The whole purpose of the timing belt is to make sure the valves open at the correct time during piston travel. Therefore if the timing belt has slipped your timing is going to be off by more than a couple of degrees and the piston is going to slam into the valve and bend the valve stem.
You need to give more information on engine before anyone can assist you with this!
