The cathode ray tube in the monitor is probably on its last leg. Could be days, months, maybe even a year if your lucky. But you probably need to plan on replacing the monitor in the near future. Soon the picture will actually start shrinking if it last that long.

∙ 10y agoThere are a number of reasons for this. The simplest would be a loose connection between the monitor and video socket on the computer. The video card itself might be loose in some cases, or in very rare situations, cockroaches crawling on it.
Sudden color shifts are normal when loading or exiting games. That happens when going into different graphic modes.
