Do you think it does? Buzzards and maggots disagree. All a matter of taste.
The body is decomposing (rotting flesh) as well as bodily fluids. This smell is something ANYONE would sense because there is no other smell like it. Often forensic teams have to use Vicks Vapo Rub under their nose to get near a body or to look at a body in the morgue. The smell is because the body is decomposing, and all of the insects and other things are feeding off of it.
yes if the body was decomposing
If you smell burning flesh at any time it is usually bad. Perhaps the only time it is not is when it's in the kitchen just prior to a meal. Your probobly contacting something that's not very nice =[[

Bad. If you're asking what compounds cause the smell of a dead and decomposing body (rat or otherwise), there are lots of them. Two particularly foul ones go by names suggesting their odors: cadaverine and putrescine. Both of these are diamines. Amines in general have a reputation for smelling bad.
A cadaver dog is trained to detect the scent of decomposing human flesh. It is a very distinctive odor unlike even other mammals. It doesn't smell like rotten food or anything else. The dog indicated there had been a human decomposing in the trunk of her car. This doesn't prove who was in the trunk. Either way, Casey Anthony had a close encounter with a dead body and will have to explain that.
The Rafflesia Arnoldii is a flower that grows to be extremely large and smells exactly like decomposing flesh. It is native to rain forests in Southeast Asia and its rotten smell attracts flies who transfer pollen from plant to plant.
