Why does engine 95 SOHC run rough after coolant temperature gauge starts to move. Car starts and runs fine cold?

I kept on getting an error message of Cylinder#1 misfire. I had already replaced the spark plugs. I switched the #1 and #4 spark wires, moved them away from touching the valve cover and the problem went away. Runs like a charm!
