Grubbs has all ways had a wolf inside him but he has been able to keep it from over controlling him. But when he comes to the island of werewolves the wolf inside controls him. At first Grubbs can't control the wolf but when his friends remind him of who he is he can control it better but still likes the taste of human flesh.
Grubbs turns into a werewolf in Book 8 of the Demonata series because he is infected with the werewolf virus. He struggles to control the wolf within him initially, but over time he learns to harness and control his werewolf abilities with help from others.

It ultimately depends on personal preference, as both series have their own unique appeal. "The Demonata" is known for its darker and more horror-influenced themes, while "Cirque Du Freak" offers a blend of horror and adventure with a focus on vampires. Fans of intense, unsettling stories may prefer "The Demonata," while those looking for a more traditional vampire narrative might lean towards "Cirque Du Freak."
