It's called Thermal Downshock. Really, the cells are to dang fat and slow to keep up, causing it to crack.
in other words, co,d travels faster then hot....or hot travels faster....ask your Science Teacher! He could help....
I hope I was of good use!

Yes, it is possible for a glass tumbler containing hot water to crack if you cool it rapidly by pouring cold water on it. The sudden change in temperature can create stress within the glass, causing it to crack or shatter. It is recommended to gradually cool the glass to prevent this from happening.
The hot liquid could crack a cold glass.
A concrete patio usually cracks due to heat cold. If it is to cold it contract and break. If it is to hot it will expand and break. Then water can seep into those cracks and freeze causing the crack to expand
Yes, a hot egg is more likely to crack than a cold egg when placed in boiling water because of the sudden temperature change. The thermal expansion in the hot egg causes stress on its shell, making it more susceptible to cracking.

No, cold water is not hot. Cold water is at a lower temperature than hot water.
Because you're cooling down, thus shrinking the glass, outside MORE than the inside (in contact with hot water)
No. Hot or cold. This can be done by running the engine at the same time to ensure the fluid mixes. The danger would be introducing cold water into a hot engine which could crack the block.
Water can be either hot or cold depending on the temperature. Water at room temperature is considered neither hot nor cold.
