You may well have What are called Mouth Ulcers on the sides of your tongue. You can get rid of these sometimes by rinsing your mouth with a warmsolution of salty water. Do it for a couple of days 4 or 5 times a day. Also dabbing Baking Powder directly onto the ulcer 2 or 3 times a day fixes them after a couple of days. Just wet the end of your finger dip it into the powder etc. Cheers.

∙ 15y agoSometimes it could be because your body temperature is high causing your tongue to swell or become larger, it is not serious just your body reacting to the heat. When your tongue becomes larger your teeth are putting pressure on it bitting down on some of your nerves in you tongue causing a shock to go to your brain, waking you up and you feeling the pain in your tongue.
If the pain is throbbing, stinging or a cutting feeling you might want to get it checked out but other wise it is nothing to worry about
