Bad bulb? They are double filamented with the smaller being for stop lights
Corroded socket?
Bad ground?
Left I/P Junction Block on left side of dash.
change the bulb .also check for bad ground on that light
The owners manual shows fuse # 3 - 7.5 amp - for left stop / turn trailer tow connector in the fuse panel on the drivers end of the dash ( the fuse panel cover is visible with the drivers door open )
If your parking lights are on and your left brake light doesn't work, the brake may have burnt out. You might also have a wiring problem.
check the brake light fuse in the dash by your left knee, if it blows, cant shift park
The left brake light works the right brake light doesn't and the bulbs is good
its a ground wire

According to my Haynes manual, Black on both sides is ground On the right (passenger) side, Dark Green is the brake light/turn signal and Brown is the tail light. On the left side, Yellow is the brake light/turn signal and Brown is the tail light The center brake light should have a White wire (12v+) and a black ground. FriPilot
with the park lights on both left and right side are lite. but when the brake is applied the right brake lights up and the left goes out(doesn't light up)
I BELIEVE the GEM is in the center stack of the dash , behind or just to the left of the radio in your 2001 Ford Explorer Sport ( can anyone confirm that ? )
