If it dies while running and won't start while hot my first thought is vapor lock. Possibly a fuel line is running too closely to an ehaust manifold or large heat source and vaporizes the fuel before it reaches the carb, which needs it in liquid form. The off the wall possibility is similar to a friends motorcycle where it ran fine but when restarting hot it turned out the heat soaked starter (which was a POS) drew so much amperage the spark plugs wouldn't spark. But his ran, yours dies. None-the-less check the spark just in case. At night run the engine until hot, pull the plug out and either move it close to your exhaust manifold (if cast iron) or a screwdriver and try to start it. If you see blue spark jump across you have spark. Then you can look at fuel and air again. .
